SHILLONG, Jan 15: In what can be considered as a big worry for Meghalaya, the positivity rate of COVID-19 cases in the state has been increasing with each passing day. In the last seven days, the positivity rate has come to around 5 per cent.
At the same time, the caseload of COVID-19 in the state is once again set to breach the 1,000-mark. As on Saturday, Meghalaya had 991 active cases including 782 cases in East Khasi Hills alone.
As per the dashboard of the Meghalaya government, the positivity rate of COVID-19 cases in the state in the last seven days stands at 5.25 per cent. During the same period, 965 confirmed cases were reported out of the 18,372 tests done in the state. The fatality rate, however, stands at a negligible 0.518 per cent for the same period.
On Saturday, the state recorded 162 fresh cases, while 69 people recovered from the viral disease. However, no deaths were reported.
The death toll in the state right now stands at 1,490. As of now, 86,147 confirmed cases have been reported in the state of which 83,666 patients have recovered.
