Farmers have a lot to be elated about with the latest schemes that the Punjab Food department will be implementing. The state’s agriculture department has been requested to provide district-wise paddy field estimation per the last procurement season by the Punjab Food & Civil Supplies department.
To provide prompt service for land and revenue matters, there is a new portal launched by the Punjab government, the PLRS, i.e., Punjab Land Records Society, which monitors and supervises the digital process of land and revenue records in Punjab. The input used by the food department, in this case, will be the paddy yields of Punjab to ensure proper implementation of the norms for the new payment system.
What is Jamabandi Punjab?
Jamabandi Punjab is essentially a record of rights that provides land-related information. With this record, you can get all the information about the land, owners, its past cultivators and current owners, etc. Suppose you are looking for details like landowner names, shareholding, total land area, rent and taxes payable, and other names included in the property. In that case, you need to apply for a copy of FARD in Punjab, which is a Jamabandi Nakal.
To access a Jamabandi Punjab record online, here’s what you need to do:
- Visit the Punjab Land Records website by clicking here.
- Next, select FARD and then select your district, village, year and other details once you are redirected to Jamabandi Punjab.
- Click on the ‘Set Region’ button and then select the ‘Jamabandi’ register type on the redirected page to see the land records.
- Choose the option for seeing the Jamabandi Punjab record from Khewat, Khera or Khatouni.
- Now click on the ‘View Report’ option to view the records.
Payment to the Farmers
It has been made compulsory for Punjab, by the centre, to carry out the procurement process after they get the land details from the farmers. They will receive their payment (MSP) for their paddy and wheat produce once their agriculture land’s revenue record is linked to the PFMS (Public Finance Management System).
For the wheat procurement of this season, farmers can get payment transferred directly to their bank accounts. The state has implemented a DBT, which is a Direct Benefit Transfer system through the PFMS, that will enable direct payment towards their rabi, i.e., wheat crops, to be transferred to their account. This amount is bypassed the traditional way, which is, routing the payment through the commission agents, i.e., arhtiyas.
It is essential to have these records if you wish to apply for a home loan or sell your property to someone who will be applying for a home loan. This record of rights will provide the necessary land-related information to the lending institution that will be offering a home loan to the buyer.
