SHILLONG, Feb 7: With pressure groups relentlessly protesting the election of Rakesh A Sangma as the GHADC CEM, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma defended it, saying a democratic process was followed.
“We had not interfered in the election of the CEM. It was all the MDCs who had proposed the name of Rakesh Sangma,” the CM said.
He, meanwhile, said the GHADC is facing numerous issues. Asserting that it is important to take measures to stabilise the council, he said the people and the MDCs need to focus more on important issues to improve its overall functioning.
