SHILLONG/TURA, Feb 7: Keeping in line with the nationwide programme dedicated towards immunising pregnant women and children, the Intensified Mission Indradhanush (IMI) 4.0 was launched in three districts of Meghalaya on Monday.
In the first round of its operation starting February 7, the IMI 4.0 was launched in the districts of East Khasi Hills, East Garo Hills and West Garo Hills. The mission, set to be completed in a total of three rounds, will continue for a period of one week each. Notably, the second and third rounds will commence from March 7 and April 4 respectively.
East Khasi Hills
The Office of the District Medical & Health Officer, East Khasi Hills organised the launching programme of IMI 4.0 at the Community Hall, Sohryngkham Neng, East Khasi Hills.
Local MLA, Pyniaid Sing Syiem, who attended as the chief guest, highlighted the importance of the administered vaccines for the health and proper development of mothers and children below 2 years of age.
Others who spoke in the programme include State Immunization Officer, Meghalaya, Dr P Manners, DMHO, East Khasi Hills, Dr A Lyngdoh and District Immunization Officer, East Khasi Hills, Dr EL Kharmutee.
West Garo Hills
In West Garo Hills, Deputy Commissioner, Ram Singh launched the Intensified Mission Indradanush 4.0 at Chitoktak Community Hall, Tura in the presence of the Additional DM&HO, District Immunization Officer, other health officials, anganwadi workers and the local community leaders.
Deputy Commissioner, Ram Singh, District Immunization Officer (DIO), Dr Ivonne M Sangma, Additional DM&HO, Dr Bijoy Debbarma and the DEMO, M Marak were among the ones who spoke at the event.
