SHILLONG, Feb 8: Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma alleged that the ongoing agitations in Garo Hills demanding the removal of GHADC Chief Executive Member, Rakesh A Sangma, could be politically motivated. “One cannot ignore that fact that it could be politically motivated but without proof, I cannot comment on this,” the chief minister said on Tuesday.
Sangma maintained that they had gone by the laid out provisions and had following the democratic process. He suspected that some people could be making attempts to communalise the issue.
Expressing optimism that the matter will be resolved in a few days, the CM added that GHADC members were reaching out to the agitating groups to end the agitations.
Continuing their demand for removal of the CEM, a consortium of at least five pressure groups from Garo Hills region has announced night road blockade across the region from February 8-11.
The night road blockade will begin at 9pm and end at 5am the next day over the course of the four days.
