Conrad wraps up Focus meet with farmers in SGH

Tura, Feb 11: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Friday wrapped up his two day meet with FOCUS Producers Group in South Garo Hills District at Chokpot Playground with the distribution of cheques to the producers’ groups and SHG’S.

The Chief Minister, while informing the gathering about FOCUS said that the vision of the MDA led Government is to upscale the Livelihood of the farmers.  He said that farmers over the years have been facing challenges in cultivating their products, buying and selling farm products individually and therefore they are being sought to form a group whereby an amount of Rs 5000 as a revolving fund per person per group would be distributed to enhanced their farming activity.

Sangma informed that this is for the first time that such an initiative is being taken by the Government of Meghalaya with the aim to uphold and uplift the economic status of the farmers. He also announced that altogether 100 crore has been sanctioned to Chokpot area through this program for the development of the area.

Rongara-Siju MLA Rakkam A Sangma, while appreciating the MDA led Meghalaya Government for its maximum contribution to developmental works said that it is the political willingness which led to bringing about the positive changes in the entire state of Meghalaya irrespective of their race caste or religion.
