Govt to replace damaged pipes in South Shillong

SHILLONG, Feb 13: An inspection of the additional water supply project in South Shillong was conducted by the officials of the PHE department and Shillong Municipal Board along with local MLA Sanbor Shullai and others.
After the inspection, the MLA urged the concerned officials to replace or repair old leaking pipelines in all localities.
The officials have assured that the completion and commissioning of additional water supply including changing of old pipe lines will be completed by the end of March this year.
Earlier, the MLA had convened a special meeting at Yojana Bhawan, Main Secretariat, which was attended by officials of the PHE department and Shillong Municipal Board as well as Rangbah Shnong (Headmen) and members of Dorbar Shnong Upper Lumparing, Lower Lumparing Dorbar, Kynjat Phutbol-Riat Laban Dorbar, Lumshatsngi Kench’s Trace Dorbar, Laban Dorbar, Madan Laban & Riat Laban Dorbar, Kench’s Trace Oxford and Rilbong Dorbar, among others.
The agenda of the meeting was the speedy implementation and commissioning of the additional water supply project for the year 2021-22 worth Rs 8.50 crore under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation and Special Plan Assistance 2021-22, initiated and recommended by Sanbor Shullai.
The inspection, which followed, was undertaken in Wahsohklur, Madan Laban Nepali School, Bishnupur-Kench’s Trace Area, Kench’s Trace Oxford Rilbong Area, Lumparing Area and Laban Area including the main water source of Wahjallanoh source and Wahrisa source.
The MLA has expressed his gratitude to the concerned officials and others for their active participation.
