CM inaugurates Iew Dorbar Shnong Malki

SHILLONG, Feb 14: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, on Monday, inaugurated the Iew Dorbar Shnong Malki located at Kharmalki here in the presence of East Shillong MLA Ampareen Lyngdoh and local MDC Fantin J Lakadong.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said that it is a memorable and meaningful project with the potential to change people’s lives and livelihoods. The programme is the celebration of the lives and livelihoods of the 25 families, who are the direct beneficiaries of the project, he added.
Stating that the project not only benefits the beneficiaries but it also the aesthetics of the locality, the CM said that drains have been covered, utilising the land and space in an appropriate manner and protecting the stream by ensuring that people cannot dump garbage in it.
He also reiterated that the state government is committed to further contribute to other projects in the locality and the city as a whole, to further increase the options of livelihood of the people.
He further encouraged the Malki Dorbar and the people to work hand in hand in order for the betterment of the locality, the city and the state as a whole.
He reminded the gathering that the Meghalaya government has started a unique project of beautification wherein financial support is being rolled out to the localities to undertake cleaning projects, beautification and painting projects of their own, while adding that it is being done by the locals in their respective areas.
On the day, keys were handed over to the 25 beneficiaries of the market by the CM, MLA, MDC and members of the Malki Dorbar.
