Congress reorganises itself in state

NEW DELHI, Feb 17: With about a year to go for assembly polls in Meghalaya, the All India Congress Committee on Thursday appointed the coordination committee, the manifesto committee and five new vice presidents of the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee.
The Congress coordination committee is headed by AICC general secretary in-charge of Meghalaya, Manish Chatrath as chairman. MPCC president Vincent H Pala, who is currently in the eye of the storm, has been appointed as member of the coordination committee as well as the manifesto committee which is headed by former MPCC chief Celestine Lyngdoh.
The AICC also appointed five vice presidents — RV Lyngdoh, K Lyngkhoi, Augustine Marak, Piwell Shylla and Boldness L Nongrum.
The MPCC already has two working presidents — Deborah C Marak and PN Syiem, who was the first to join the party after Pala took over as MPCC chief.
Besides Pala and the two working presidents, the coordination committee also has HDR Lyngdoh and Ronnie V Lyngdoh, AT Mandal, Andrew Shullai, Holando Lamin and Sanjay Das.
Former Rajya Sabha member, Wansuk Syiem has been named in the manifesto committee.
