TURA, Feb 24: Expressing disapproval over another poorly-constructed PMGSY road, a group of South Garo Hills residents have sought the Deputy Commissioner’s intervention, demanding recovery of the road at the earliest.
The road, which is over 20-km long is the connecting route between the villages of Karukol and Tolegre via Nengkong and Emangre. Its construction which has been undertaken by one, MP Agarwala from Guwahati, has been allegedly completed, although as per the locals, the ‘completed road’ does not look in a good shape.
Reportedly, the PMGSY road is so haphazardly done that a slight pressure on the newly-tarred road can easily dislodge it. In a video of the road that has gone viral on social media, residents of SGH can be seen taking off the tar from many places in the road. As such, social media users have sought the immediate intervention of the district administration into the matter while seeking action against the contractor, the EE and SE of the district.
