RESUBELPARA, Mar 12: The North Garo Hills deputy commissioner has called for a meeting of Aking Nokmas and village Sordars under Resubelpara C&RD Block in the wake of a demand for relocation of an existing C&RD Block or creation of a new one in the district.
Currently, North Garo Hills has a total of three C&RD Blocks, viz. Bajengdoba, Resubelpara and Kharkutta.
The meeting, which will be held on March 15 at the SGSY Hall of Resubelpara C&RD Block, been called in the wake of locals submitting a memorandum to Chief Minister Conrad Sangma.
The memorandum, submitted on Saturday, demanded that the C&RD Block at Resubelpara be either shifted to Damas or a new one be created to cater to the people under the Mendipathar constituency, with Damas being the headquarter.
Earlier, residents of Dainadubi, a few kms from Damas, and its adjoining areas, including Damas, had submitted various memorandums to the government, seeking the creation of a new C&RD Block for their area.
