SHILLONG, April 6: A total of 578 trainee officers in the rank of Sub-Inspectors of Police on Wednesday passed out of North Eastern Police Academy (NEPA) after successfully completing the 50th batch of basic course — the largest-ever batch in the history of NEPA since its inception.
The passing-out parade, which was organised at the parade ground of the Academy campus at Umsaw Village, Ri-Bhoi, was attended by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Assam DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta, Director of NEPA Deepak Kumar, high-ranking officials from Meghalaya and Assam, family/relatives of trainee officers, among others.
Assam chief minister, who reviewed the parade, congratulated the trainee officers and distributed trophies and medals among them for their individual performance during the training period.
“Cadet Sub Inspector Baharul Islam, who commanded the parade, was awarded with the Governor of Meghalaya ‘Sword of Honour & NEPA Silver Medal’ for being the all round best cadet. Cadet Sub Inspector Noor Neha Begum was awarded with the Chief Minister Meghalaya ‘Baton of Honour & NEPA Silver Medal’ for being best cadet in indoor subjects, while Cadet Sub Inspector Biplab Gohain received the Chief Minister Arunachal Pradesh ‘Baton of Honour & NEPA Silver Medal’ for being the best cadet in outdoor subjects. The BR Lall Academy Trophy & NEPA Silver Medal for exemplary conduct was bagged by Cadet Sub Inspector Mritunjoy Singha,” a statement in this regard said.
It may be mentioned that the trainee officers, who started their one-year basic training on January 19, 2021, have undergone gruelling training enabling them to perform in any kind of environment with confidence.
