SGH man held in Guwahati with fake currency

GUWAHATI, April 20: A West Guwahati Police District team from Gorchuk police station seized fake Indian currency notes (FICN) amounting Rs 7 lakh and arrested a man from the Inter-State Bus Terminus here on Tuesday.
“We arrested a man identified as Kinder M Sangma, who is a resident of South Garo Hills (SGH) in Meghalaya, after he was caught with counterfeit notes resembling the currency notes of Rs 500 denomination,” Gorchuk officer-in-charge Satyendra Singh Hazari informed The Shillong Times on Wednesday.
“During preliminary interrogation, the man confessed to have bought the fake currency notes from one Babul Das before trying to take the notes to his village in South Garo Hills. Sangma was produced before the court of the chief judicial magistrate of Kamrup (Metro) on Wednesday,” Hazari said. A case has been registered at Gorchuk police station in connection with the FICN seizure.
Das is yet to be traced though even as further investigation by police is under way.
