SHILLONG, April 26: United Democratic Party (UDP) president, Metbah Lyngdoh on Tuesday asked the opposition AITC to come up with evidence to back their charges against the UDP.
“Come up with evidence whatever charges you have and then we will look into it…I for one never come out with any such statement accusing or charging anyone without evidence,” said Lyngdoh, while reacting to charges leveled by the opposition AITC against the UDP of supporting a ‘corrupt’ government.
Stating that he does not know the reason behind the AITC attacking the UDP, Lyngdoh said, “You cannot charge someone like that that you are corrupt. You please come up with evidence whoever has said that must come up with evidence.”
The UDP president reminded that the UDP has always raised issues of irregularities in the state.
“We never sit idle whenever irregularities have happened, we have always raised the issue,” he added.
On MLAs joining the UDP, the party chief said that minimum four to five MLAs from other parties will join the UDP, adding that talks are under way and few MLAs have already confirmed. He also took the opportunity to assert that all UDP MLAs are intact with the party.
Talking about the Garo Hills region, he said, “We will concentrate wherever there is scope. We will not rush. We will take decision at an appropriate time. The people are with us.”
