New Delhi, April 27: The All India Congress Committee (AICC) has suspended the five Congress MLAs of the state for three years.
The five MLAs – Ampareen Lyngdoh, Mayralborn Syiem, Kimfa Marbaniang, PT Sawkmie and Mohendro Rapsang – were earlier issued show-cause notices and suspended from the party for extending support to the NPP-led MDA government, despite being in the opposition.
Their suspension was recommended by the disciplinary committee of AICC which also took action against two party leaders.
It is intriguing why the MLAs have not been expelled despite supporting a government where the BJP is an active alliance partner.
