Tributes paid to Swami Vivekananda

SHILLONG, April 27: Commemorating the 121st anniversary of the inauguration of Quinton Memorial Hall by Swami Vivekananda in 1901, where now stands the well-known Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Cultural Centre, tributes were paid to the great philosopher and author during annual function of Computer Training and Languages Units, held in two sessions on Wednesday.
During the first day of the three-day-long function, which commenced on Wednesday, to commemorate the 121st anniversary of the occasion, floral tributes were paid to the statue of Swami Vivekananda by the guests, besides Swami Sukhananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission, Bhuj, Gujarat, and Dr Nalin Mehta, Director, NEIGRIHMS, and Swami Hitakamananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission, Shillong.
This was followed by the release of the Magazine Ka Jingshai – The Light Jyoti Volume: 3 Issue: 1.
A few contributors to the Magazine were felicitated. They were Sumar Sing Sawian, Bikram Bir Thapa, Silbi Passah, Raphael Warjri, Dr Moushumi Dey, Dr Anita Panda, Bijoya Sawian,Tanmoy Dasgupta, and Hammarsing L Kharhmar.
The prestigious Vivekananda Award of Excellence was presented to Robertson Thankhiew for his outstanding contribution to the centre.
The award carries a citation and a cheque of Rs 15,000.
