CM, Tynsong threatened over HPC’s demands

SHILLONG, May 2: Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong on Monday claimed that he and Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma have received threats from several quarters ever since the meeting with the Harijan Panchayat Committee (HPC) last week.
Addressing a public meeting at Sohra on Monday, Tynsong, who is also the NPP vice president, said some people had threatened him and the CM against allotting the land demanded by the HPC.
He did not divulge details regarding the threat.
Tynsong made it clear that the state government will not allot land to residents of Them Iew Mawlong without duly examining the matter.
“I want to assure that we are going to take the right decision on this matter which is going to benefit the future generations,” he said.
It may be noted that the HPC has asked the state government to allot 10 acres of land in European Ward and bear the expenses for constructing the houses of the 342 families residing in the Colony.
