Various events mark NE Festival in NGH

TURA, May 2: As part of the celebration of North East festival 2022, a self-help group (SHG) mela-cum-financial literacy camp as well as district-level Quiz competition for school students was organized by the North Garo Hills district administration in Resubelpara on Monday.
In hi address as the chief guest, ADC ZJ Sangma, highlighted the importance of SHGs and entrepreneurship.
He said employment can be generated through different business activities of SHGs and further urged the 200 SHGs members who partook in the programme to engage in the activities of SHGs with dedication and avail economic assistance from the government. While congratulating the student winners of the district-level Quiz competition, Sangma wished them luck for their future endeavours. He also gave away the cash prize and certificate to students of Dilma Apal Higher Secondary school, Riverside Higher Secondary school and Resubelpara Girls Govt Higher Secondary school who bagged the first, second and third positions respectively.
Others who spoke during the programme were BK Sangma, Research Officer, Planning, Branch Managers of SBI, MCAB, Meghalaya Rural bank and DPM, NRLM, NGH. The branch managers in their speech apprised the gathering of bank loans and encouraged them to approach their respective banks for details on the same.
