SHILLONG, May 5: The ghar wapsi remark in regard to the suspended Congress MLAs by Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president, Vincent Pala, seems to have had a ripple effect in the political faction of the state with suspended Congress leader, Ampareen Lyngdoh, now joining the chorus to censure Pala’s claims.
Slamming the MPCC chief for his statement, Lyngdoh said that Pala has adopted double standards on the matter. According to Lyngdoh, together with making claims that suspended Congress leaders want ghar wapsi in the Congress, Pala has decided on fielding other candidates from their constituencies is even actively campaigning for them.
On this, Lyngdoh said that catchy phrases do not make any sense in this context.
Earlier, All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) state president, Charles Pyngrope had taken a dig at Vincent H Pala describing him as a “confused man” since he was simultaneously speaking about ghar wapsi and endorsing the three-year suspension of the five Congress MLAs who had extended support to the NPP-led MDA government which has the BJP as one of its constituents. Pyngrope had said that the decision to suspend them clearly indicates that Congress does not want them to contest the 2023 polls from the party.
