SHILLONG, May 6: Hitting out at suspended Congress leader Ampareen Lyngdoh after her remark on ghar wapsi row against state Congress president Vincent H Pala, the Meghalaya Pradesh Youth Congress (MPYC) has recalled Lyngdoh’s indulgence with the terminologies “ghar wapsi and double standards” in the past.
In a statement issued here, MPYC president Adrian L Chyne Mylliem said,
“Ampareen Lyngdoh has muddled up the meaning of ghar wapsi with ‘double standards’. What comes as a surprise, though, is how conveniently the suspended MLA has chosen to ignore her own indulgence with ghar wapsi and “double standards” terminologies with which she is no alien”.
The Youth Congress president reminded the suspended Congress MLA that she had left the Congress in 2008 and soon after she ditched the UDP within a year of joining it to return to the Congress.
“If this does not reflect her own double standards, merely for sake of position and power, then what does?” Mylliem said.
Her statement against the MPCC president is but a reflection of her frustrations for not being allowed to do things according to her whims inside the party by trampling on the values and principles of the party.
Taking a stand for the Congress president, he said Pala is setting his house in order and to do that he is working at the grassroots level organising people at the blocks so that the party functionaries can listen to the people and address their needs and concern.
“We also want to reiterate that the doors of the MPCC are always open for those who want to return to their homes. Their own commitment to the party, its values and the people will go a long way in setting the agenda for the future of the party and the State,” the MPYC chief remarked.
Meanwhile, the MPYC has also congratulated Billykid Sangma for bagging gold in Golf at the Meghalaya Games.
