Vets deny reports on extortion, check post closure

SHILLONG, May 17: Veterinary doctors have refuted reports on alleged extortions bids and the closure of Umling livestock check post.
A statement from the Director of Animal Husbandry (AH) and Veterinary informed that the veterinary doctors on duty at Umling livestock check post have denied giving statement to media that “they have unanimously closed the gate”.
“The veterinary doctors on duty also clarified that media report on that they unanimously closed check post after some other people took over their work is false and baseless. It is clarified that duty was suspended only due to safety concerns,” it said.
With regard to the report on alleged extortion, the statement informed that the veterinary doctors have refuted the same.
The AH and Veterinary Director has, meanwhile, asked all concerned with proof of irregularities to bring the same to the notice of the government.
