SHILLONG, May 28: In spite of operations going under way after some delay, the airlines FlyBig which is operating the Shillong-Delhi flight, has apparently failed to please State Transport Minister Dasakhiatbha Lamare.
Speaking about the flight services, which has been running since May 2, the minister said, “It is not even direct every day. I was looking for this flight only in New Delhi recently, but I could not find it”.
Stating that a significant amount of money is being spent on FlyBig, Lamare asserted that the services should be spot on, while adding that travelling to New Delhi on an ATR is a little difficult.
Moreover, sources said Flybig is not punctual as far as operating their flights is concerned and there are frequent delays.
It was also informed that the airlines cancelled flights on two occasions citing technical reasons.
Some passengers who travelled from Shillong airport to Kolkata recently said that their flights were cancelled at the eleventh hour. Later, vehicles were arranged for them to head to Guwahati airport.
Reacting to cancellation of flights from the airport, officials said that many a times, cumulonimbus clouds, which are known as extremely dangerous to air traffic, forms above the Shillong airport which is why flights have to be cancelled sometime.
