SHILLONG, June 11: The A∙chik Holistic Awakening Movement (AHAM) has petitioned Chief Minister Conrad Sangma for the cancellation of the results declared by the Meghalaya State Watershed Development Agency, for the post of Field Engineer.
In a letter to the chief minister, AHAM president Georgeprince Ch. Momin said that the personal interview results declared by Meghalaya State Watershed and Wasteland Development Agency disregarded the state’s job reservation policy in declaring the results for the post of Field Engineer in the community-owned small multipurpose reservoirs in Meghalaya.
“It may be mentioned that of all the 16 candidates declared and absorb for the Post of Field Engineer for the Agency, only one Achik/Garo candidate was selected, which reflects the direct denial or negligence of the existence of State Job Reservation Policy,” it said.
According to AHAM president, for any projects to be community-oriented, there is a need to fill all the posts with local candidates as the success of any project depends on the community participation.
The AHAM has, meanwhile, demanded that the results be scrapped immediately and new results be declared, upholding the Meghalaya State Job Reservation Policy.
It has also sought of an inquiry against the person responsible, while warning series of agitations in Garo Hills.
