SHILLONG, June 13: The Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) will take the help of experts from diverse fields to frame the party’s 2023 Assembly election manifesto.
Disclosing this here on Monday, party stalwart, PN Syiem said the MPCC has already constituted a manifesto committee which is headed by party’s former state chief, Celestine Lyngdoh.
Besides Syiem, the other members of the committee include MPCC chief Vincent H Pala, former Rajya Sabha member Wansuk Syiem, former Assembly Speaker AT Mondal, prominent lawyer Fenela L Nonglait and president of East Shillong Block Congress Committee Manuel Badwar.
Syiem said the first meeting of the committee will be held soon to discuss how to go about with the preparation of the manifesto. He said the experts will include economists, educationists, environmentalists, entrepreneurs and those with knowledge in revenue. Stating that the Congress is concerned over the rising unemployment problem in the state, he said the party would like to address it by creating job opportunities through self-employment. He said it will also explore job avenues in private, semi-government and government sectors.
“We would try to come up with a manifesto with a difference. I am sure we will be able to achieve this goal with inputs from the young and vibrant faces in the party,” Syiem said.
He said the Congress, if voted to power, will try to implement whatever is committed in the manifesto.
