SHILLONG, June 24: Accusing the state government of failing to respect and honour the terms of agreement, a woman who had donated a lot of land in 2009 for construction of a health sub-centre at Mawmuthoh under Mawryngkneng block in East Khasi Hills, has now occupied the centre.
“Till now I have not got what was promised by the state government in 2009. Even the health sub-centre is yet to function,” Siyoda Kharmudai claimed on Friday.
Kharmudai had donated the plot of land after she was assured by the Health department that a member of the family would be provided with a job. The health sub-centre was constructed in 2011, but eleven years down the line it is yet to open its doors to the public.
Kharmudai made it clear that she was willing to vacate the centre and the land if the state government fulfills its promise made to her of providing a job for one of her family members and opening the health centre by August.
Following the incident, Nongkrem MLA Lambor Malngiang asked the Health department to make efforts to inaugurate the health sub-centre by August.
