MPCC sets up political affairs committee

NEW DELHI, July 5: The All India Congress Committee on Tuesday appointed former Pradesh Congress Committee president Celestine Lyngdoh as convener of the political affairs committee of the state Congress.
MPCC president Vincent H Pala remained in the second position leaving the post of convener to Lyngdoh. Interestingly, it was AICC’s appointment of the Shillong MP as MPCC president, which had first ignited the fire in the party which saw desertion in waves.
The appointments were approved by Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday, said a statement issued by AICC general secretary KC Venugopal.
Other members include Pala, working presidents – Deborah Marak and PN Syiem, AT Mondal, RRV Lyngdoh, Nehemayah Tyngkan, Wansuk Syiem, Sanjay Das, Charles Marngar, Gabriel Wahlang and Emlang Laloo.
