SHILLONG, July 8: KHADC Chief Executive Member (CEM) Titosstarwell Chyne on Thursday said that he will not hesitate to find out the one responsible for the missing of the original copy of the sale deed of a plot of land which was purchased by the Council in 2014 to construct its branch office at Mawkyrwat.
“We have no record in the office of this land, which was purchased during the time of former CEM Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit. Till now, we have not been able to take possession of this land as there is no record in the office and file is missing. I feel this is serious,” Chyne said, replying to a question raised by Congress MDC from Mawkyrwat Carnes Sohshang during the Question Hour on the final day of the summer session of the KHADC on Friday.
It may be mentioned that former KHADC secretary W Syiemlieh and former joint secretary RS Wanniang were the witnesses during the purchase of the land at Laitlawsang.
Admitting that the KHADC was not able to take possession of this land in question due to the unavailability of the sale deeds, Chyne questioned the need to take possession of another land where the branch office now stands, especially when the Council had already acquired a land for the same purpose.
“As per the agreement, the Council had to provide jobs to the members of the family who provided the land for setting up of the branch office,” he said.
Earlier, Sohshang had raised question on the reasons for the failure on the part of KHADC to take possession of the land at Laitlawsang.
Stating that he has a copy of the sale deed signed on September 2014 between the former CEM and the land owner Nolipstar Lyngdoh, Sohshang said that the KHADC had purchased the11750.13 sq feet land at Rs 35.25 lakh.
Chyne also informed the House that he now has the copy of the sale deed signed by the former KHADC CEM.
