SHILLONG, July 10: The internal rumblings in the State BJP is out in the open with the AL Hek and Sanbor Shullai camps now resorting to washing their dirty linen in public.
Taking the war of words between Hek and Shullai camps to the next level, the BJP’s South Shillong unit on Sunday accused the former of trying to gain political mileage out of the recent incident involving the latter and demanded his suspension from the party without ado.
“An incident which unfortunately happened within a secured environment was made public by a fellow party member and it is completely unacceptable,” said convenor of BJP South Mondal & state executive member P Sharma.
He said that though the issue was raised by UDP president Metbah Lyngdoh, Hek seems to be leading the charge against the very party he represents.
“This double standard is highly unacceptable and the party should take action. The issue of atrocities against Christian minorities, raised by Metbah Lyngdoh, was interrupted by Shullai who believed and stood by the BJP’s secular national stance but Hek opposed Shullai’s claim,” Sharma said.
Sharma also alleged that Hek’s attempt to bring a divide among the NEDA partners and his association with Mukul Sangma and other Trinamool members points to the fact that he might be trying for an alternative forum.
“It is high time the party pulls up its act and stops Hek’s personal ambitions over party and state interests. The party needs to take into cognizance his statement and act appropriately and set an example that none is above the party and that he should be indefinitely suspended till the central command takes a call on it,” Sharma added.
