EKH launches prog to prevent diarrhoea

SHILLONG, Aug 18: In an attempt to intensify the prevention and control of diarrhoea, especially among children, the Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight (IDCF) 2022 was launched by the office of the District Health Society, National Health Mission, East Khasi Hills, at the Community Hall in Jongksha village on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion as the chief guest, Secretary Health & Family Welfare, RM Kurbah, said that the aim of the programme is to bring down the mortality rate of children from diarrhea, even as she stressed on the importance of clean drinking water.
Addressing the gathering, Additional DM&HO, East Khasi Hills, Dr EG Tariang Pajat, said that the objective of the IDCF is to intensify the prevention and control of diarrhoea, especially among children, to create awareness about the usage of ORS and Zinc during diarrhoea in children in age group of 1-5 years, and to instruct heath workers in educating the community with regards to prevention and treatment.
