One apprehended with gold biscuits in NGH

Tura, Sept 2: North Garo Hills district police has apprehended a person from Cooch Behar in West Bengal with four gold biscuits weighing 466 grams and worth Rs 25 lakh.

The arrested person has been identified as Hamidul Hoque (27), who was trying to smuggle the said gold to West Bengal.

Police informed that a team of NGH police during a routine checking at 4 PM on August 30 last intercepted one Mahindra Bolero pick-up vehicle without registration plate at Bolongre Rari Up on NH51 under Bajengdoba Police Station and on searching the vehicle 4 pieces of gold biscuits weighing, one mobile handset and cash of Rs 3700 were recovered from the possession of the apprehended person.

The person has been detained for further investigation.
