NEHU observes International Day of Sign Languages

SHILLONG, Sep 24: As part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, International Day of Sign Languages was observed in North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) on Friday.
According to a statement, the programme was attended by around 200 people, including teaching and non-teaching staff, students, et al.
During the programme, a live demonstration of sign languages was presented by Research Scholar of Linguistic department Tiakumzuk Aier, who enthralled the gathering by presenting various ways of communication in sign languages.
“He also stressed on how the sign language is not just important for specially-abled persons but also for those who are communicating with them,” the statement said.
