Samlin yet to reply to HSPDP notice

SHILLONG, Sep 27: One of two Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP) MLAs, Samlin Malngiang is apparently not keen to contest from the party in the upcoming assembly polls as he has reportedly not responded to the show-cause notice issued by the party wishing to kow clearly whether he would represent the HSPDP in the elections next year.
According to the party president, KP Pangniang, Malngiang has not responded to the show cause notice. “This is an indication that he is not keen to contest from the party again,” he said here on Tuesday.
Pangniang, however, said the party MLA from Mawkyrwat and Cabinet Minister Renikton L Tongkhar has made it clear to the party leaders that he is not going to contest from the HSPDP.
Tongkhar has even told the party leadership that it is free to select a candidate to contest from Mawkyrwat Constituency.
The party has decided to field Medal Sing Tongkhar from Mawkyrwat, the HSPDP chief said.
Replying to a query, Pangniang said the party is yet to take a call on the candidate to represent HSPDP in the fray for Sohiong Constituency. “We would like to field a candidate even from Sohiong,” he said, while pointing out that the HSPDP candidates ready for at least 10 constituencies. “We will be announcing the list of party candidates by November,” he added.
