Residents of 41 villages in Langpih want to remain in M’laya

NONGSTOIN, Oct 10: Khasi and Garo residents of as many as 41 villages in the Langpih sector have resolved to remain in Meghalaya and have submitted their decision in black and white to West Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner Garod LSN Dykes.
Resolution of the border dispute in the Langpih sector will be taken up in phase-II of the border talks between Meghalaya and Assam.
The villagers moved and endorsed the resolution during a meeting convened recently at Langpih.
The villagers submitted the resolution to the Synjuk Ki Nongsynshar Shnong of Langpih area which met the deputy commissioner on Monday and submitted the memorandum.
The DC assured the Synjuk members that he would forward the memorandum to the West Khasi Hills regional border committee for due consideration and necessary action.
