According to a statement here on Monday, founder and president of SPARK Shima Modak, during the programme, enlightened the children about the essence of Diwali and sensitised them on the need to follow safety measures during celebrations.
Modak also stressed on the need to celebrate an environment-friendly Diwali.
“SPARK hopes that this Diwali ends all the evil and brings goodness and positivity in the lives of all, especially these underprivileged and distressed children,” the NGO said in its statement.
The Diwali celebration, according to SPARK, was participated by hundreds of underprivileged children from Rangmen village and Bara Bazaar slum.
“During the celebration, lamps were lit by the children with a strong belief that its light will bring brightness in the lives of every child. Children recited a prayer asking for God’s blessing and support,” the NGO said.
