SHILLONG, Nov 21: Senior Congress leader and former urban Affairs minister Ronnie V Lyngdoh has castigated the NPP-led MDA Government for highlighting a false narrative about its work and achievements in the mainstream and social media whereas the reality was to the contrary.
Speaking to The Shillong Times on Tuesday, the KHADC MDC from Mylliem said people of the state are mature enough to understand that what is being projected in the media by the government is nothing but eyewash.
“The ground reality speaks otherwise where teachers, Anganwadi and ASHA workers are not being paid. Lately, even doctors are not getting their salaries,” he said.
Pointing out to the abject condition of the national highway in his constituency, Lyngdoh said not only the national highway but every road in the city and the state are in bad shape.
“And why only talk about roads only; even the water supply, healthcare and education has not fructified in the last five years,” he added.
Asked about the his political opponent Hamletson Dohling looking set to quit the PDF and join the NPP, Lyngdoh said he did not see any commitment behind the move to serve the people.
“This is plain and simple. They go where the grass is greener and the bread is buttered,” he said.
He made it clear that Dohling’s move to the ruling NPP would not have any effect in the Assembly polls.
It may be mentioned that Lyngdoh had lost the 2018 Assembly elections to Dohling by a thin margin of 465 votes.
