SHILLONG, Dec 1: Amid the political churnings in Meghalaya with desertion and resignation becoming the order of the day, the State Congress has made it clear that they were not interested in sitting MLAs joining their ranks since the party has decided to fight the elections with a fresh team of candidates.
Speaking to The Shillong Times on Thursday, MPCC president Vincent H Pala said almost half of the candidates will consist of new faces. The other half will have experienced leaders like Ronnie V Lyngdoh, PN Syiem, Deborah Marak and some sitting MDCs, he said.
Admitting that the Congress had faced troubled times after sitting MLAs deserted the party last year, Pala claimed that party has rebuilt its house.
“Other parties like NPP and UDP are witnessing resignations and infighting but we have rebuilt our house and the Congress is better prepared than any other party in the state right now,” a confident Pala said.
