Cleaning drive
The Dorbar Shnong of Qualapatty along with Qualapatty Sports, Social and Cultural Club will organise the annual cleaning drive from 8 am on December 19. In this regard, the locals have been asked to participate in the cleaning drive while shops in the locality have been asked to remain shut. It has also been informed that no vehicle from outside would be allowed to enter the locality.
Celebration
East Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Jagdish Chelani has informed that the 50th statehood celebration will take place at Rongrenggre Playground on December 16 and 17. According to a statement, various competitions such as singing, dancing, painting, indigenous games and sports, pineapple eating, wood carving, beach volleyball, et al, will be held as part of the celebration.
Unclaimed body
The Joint Director of Health Services (SS), Shillong Civil Hospital, has informed that one male patient, viz. Bulbul Lama (42) was admitted in the Male Medical Ward-II, Bed No. 16 on November 15 at 7:13 pm. He, however, passed away on December 9 at 9 am. “All concerned relatives etc are requested to collect the dead body from the morgue of the hospital immediately, failing which the dead body will be sent for disposal by the Shillong Municipal Board,” a statement in this regard said.
Programme
St. Anthony’s College Shillong, in collaboration with Bio-Resources Development Centre, an R&D institution under Planning department, will organise a ‘Two-Day International Conference on Biodiversity and Conservation-cum-Workshop on Traditional Medicine’ on December 14 and 15 at college. The programme will be inaugurated by Forests & Environment Minister James PK Sangma on Wednesday.

The winning ticket numbers of the raffle draw organised by Divine Saviour Catholic Youth Association Nongthymmai Parish are 04646 (first prize), 18864 (second prize) and 17477 (third prize). The numbers that have secured consolation prizes are 07758, 13730, 12270, 19456, 09860, 03087, 23465, 19249, 05766 and 01999. “Winners can claim within one month from the drawing date,” a statement in this regard said.
