NONGPOH, Dec 29: Sale of firecrackers in Nongpoh went awry on Thursday evening after they accidently burst, triggering panic among the people nearby.
There, however, was no report of casualties during the incident, which reportedly took place at around 5:30 pm.
The firecrackers shop was set up near a maruti van (ML10B3580) by one Meshan Nongrum, an Umsning-based vendor who reportedly is known to sell firecrackers every year during the season of Christmas and New Year.
While testing one of the firecrackers, the accident came to pass, thereby triggering panic among the people nearby.
Nearby shopkeepers and passersby then immediately rushed to douse the fire before it could cause damage to the van and nearby shops.
