SHILLONG, Jan 10: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday promised to complete all pending projects, including the incomplete ones hurriedly inaugurated by the Conrad K Sangma-led government.
State BJP president Ernest Mawrie said the previous governments laid many foundation stones and inaugurated several incomplete projects just before the elections.
“This is a common trend we have been experiencing in Meghalaya. The political parties think the voters have a short-term memory and launching projects before elections will get them votes,” he said.
The BJP, he asserted, was committed to completing all pending meritorious projects on a priority basis immediately after forming the next government.
“As part of our 100 Days Priority Plan, the BJP-led government will constitute a committee to list out all the pending and incomplete projects in Meghalaya and will prioritise them on the basis of their need and merit,” the BJP president said, adding that the party would ensure quality completion of the projects in the shortest possible time.
He condemned the current government for trying to fool the public by inaugurating a plethora of projects ahead of the elections. He said the people can see right through the ploy of the National People’s Party (NPP).
“The people are disgusted by the fact that the elections are prompting the NPP to cut corners and launch incomplete and substandard projects. The BJP has been in the government only for the sake of political stability, but it did not prevent us from bringing the fallacies of the government to the fore from day one,” Mawrie said.
He recalled how the BJP had called attention to the corruption in the government about two years ago.
