Meghalaya fail to capitalise as Baroda regroup after early jolts

Shillong, Jan 15: Baroda made 273/5 by stumps on the first day of their U-25 Col CK Nayudu Trophy match against Meghalaya in Mangaldai, Assam, on Sunday.
Meghalaya won the toss, chose to field and struck with the very first ball of the day, with new skipper Ram Gurung (1/17) trapping opener Kinit Patel lbw.
Further inroads were made by the bowlers, with Baroda reduced to 27/3 and then 78/4 before Abhimanyu Singh (109) and MR Solanki (85 not out) shared an impressive 152-run stand for the fifth wicket.
The centurion’s wicket was claimed by Manish Sharma (2/78), while Roshan Warbah (1/28) and PM Santhosh (1/33) claimed one scalp each.
