TURA, Jan 17: Leader of the Garoland State Movement Committee (GSMC) from Pedaldoba, Rimjen Ch Sangma, who is also the Chairman of the Save B-Mahal Committee, has decided to apply for a party ticket from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to contest the upcoming Assembly elections.
It may be mentioned that the GSMC leader, who had joined the BJP recently, will apply for a party ticket on Wednesday.
Sangma’s decision to contest the election comes following a meeting held in a B-Mahal area under Raksamgre constituency on Tuesday, where his candidature was supported by residents along with Nokmas and Sordars.
“I am from a poor family and I will always help the poor. If I am to be elected, 75 per cent of my salary will go towards helping those who are unable to get admissions for their education,” Sangma declared in a release.
Pointing out that there are still issues with regard to B-Mahal areas, Sangma also said that he would continue to take up the issue whether he wins the elections or not.
