Tura, Jan 21: As has been tradition for the NPP, the campaign to retain power for the party will once again begin from the village of Adokgre on Jan 23, Monday.

Since their late father’s first election, Adokgre has been auspicious to the NPP with the first campaign for all elections always being held at Adokgre under Kharkutta constituency in North Garo Hills.

A party source confirmed that requisition has been placed by the party to hold the meeting the recently inaugurated Chenangre stadium at the village – the place which has always been used by the party to begin their serious attempt at retaining power.

“We have informed all our 58 candidates though all may not be able to attend due to prior commitments. However all party stalwarts including Prestone Tynsong, Snaiwbhalang Dhar along with Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma and his elder brother, James Sangma along with all current NPP MLAs who are still with the party, expected to be present,” informed the party source.

The source added that they expected more than 5000 supporters of the party to be present.

“We are positive of a very good result and will definitely get majority in the upcoming elections. Our work has spoken to the people of the state and they understand that to continue the same growth, they need the NPP to lead the next government as well,” informed the source.
