BSF Meghalaya personnel receive police medals for meritorious service

SHILLONG, Jan 28: Select personnel of Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya Frontier have been conferred with police medal for meritorious service on the occasion of Republic Day.
According to a statement here, Constable Dharamveer Singh of 172 Bn BSF Meghalaya received the police medal for his impeccable service exhibiting courage and bravery.
Similarly, Dr. Jalaj Sinha, DIG (Medical), posted at FTR HQ BSF Meghalaya, received the police medal for his distinguished contribution in the medical field and well-being of force personnel.
“Dr. Jalaj Sinha served as the nodal officer for BSF during the COVID pandemic at Force Headquarters, New Delhi, and did tremendous work to save the lives of the patients,” the statement said.
“During his 30 year long service he served at various challenging locations like Ladakh, North East and even Kashmir during the time of peak militancy. He also paid a significant contribution in abating Malaria among BSF troops at Tripura,” it added.
It may be mentioned that on the occasion of Republic Day, President Droupadi Murmu had awarded 59 medals to BSF personnel, which include seven Police Medal for Gallantry, five President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service and 47 Police Medal for Meritorious Service.
