SHILLONG, Jan 28: With political parties in poll-bound Meghalaya tirelessly engaging in electoral activities to boost their winnability prospects, the party high command of Janata Dal United (JDU) is now slated to visit Williamnagar and announce the names of the candidates for the upcoming Assembly elections.
Revealing this, convenor of Meghalaya JDU and party candidate from Williamnagar, Robinus T Sangma, said that the JDU national general secretary, Afaque Ahmad Khan, will visit the district on January 31.
“Meghalaya JDU will declare their candidatures on the same day and thereafter many JDU national leaders will come to Meghalaya…to empower the candidates of Meghalaya JDU,” said Sangma.
It was also informed that the names of the people who have jumped ship to the Meghalaya JDU will soon be revealed.
Meanwhile, Sangma also assured that Williamnagar would see the much-needed development if the JDU is brought to power.
It may be mentioned that the JDU had earlier asserted that it will field candidates in all the 60 seats next year.
It was also informed by the party that candidates from nook and corner have been approaching for the tickets.
