Shillong, Feb 4: VPP president and Nongkrem candidate, Ardent Basaiawmoit is hopeful that clean politics will triumph over money power and corruption.

Speaking to reporters after filing his nomination paper, he attacked the ruling NPP-led MDA coalition for the numerous cases of corruption and irregularities.

Criticising the regional parties of the coalition for not sticking to their promise of taking care of the issue of the people, he said the regional fronts of the State were spineless and only concerned about winning and retaining the power.

He also clarified that he had never said that he did not want the non-tribals vote in the last election, but that he was for the cause of the indigenous people. His statement was distorted in the media, he said.
