SHILLONG, Feb 4: Supercare Hospital, Shillong, has become the first hospital in Meghalaya to secure National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH) recognition for its Emergency Department.
According to a statement here, the certification was granted after it was found that the Emergency Department of the hospital complies with NABH Standards for Emergency Department for Hospitals in India.
“After a rigorous inspection process to validate 44 quality standards involving 255 different objective elements, Supercare Hospital was granted this certification, making them the first and only hospital in Meghalaya to get NABH quality recognition for its Emergency Department,” the statement said.
It may be mentioned that the NABH, which is a part of the Quality Council of India (QCI), is a quality accreditation board for hospitals in India.
The NABH accreditation programme sets standards for healthcare facilities in India, including emergency care services, to ensure that they meet certain quality and safety standards.
These standards are based on international best practices and are designed to improve patient safety and the quality of care in hospitals.
It may also be noted that the NABH standards are currently the highest benchmark standard for hospital quality in India.
“The Standards for Emergency Certification provide the framework for quality care and patient safety to patients admitted to the Emergency Department. These standards help an organisation maintain continuous quality improvement. They aim at setting expectations for the provision of equitable, safe, and high-quality emergency care in the country, thereby ensuring top-notch clinical outcomes,” the statement said.
