Every district in Meghalaya should have medical college: TMC

Shillong, Feb 18: TMC National general secretary, Abhishek Baneerjee said that there should be medical colleges in all the 12 districts of Meghalaya.

While speaking at the election rally to drum support for the  party candidate from MylliemLAC in Meghalaya,  Gilbert Guidingstar Laloo held at Umlyngka here on Saturday, Baneerjee said that West Bengal has 23 medical colleges in all its 23 districts,

“There should be one medical college in every district of Meghalaya. If Bengal can do that, why  Meghalaya can’t,” TMC general secretary said.

He observed that Meghalaya is the only state in India that does not have a single medical college.

TMC national general secretary said that Shillong Medical College exists only on papers and the future of the construction of Tura Medical College is in the complete doldrums.

Baneerjee also promised that they would make sure that once TMC government was formed in Meghalaya they would do whatever it takes to make sure that Khasi and Garo language are included in the Eight Schedule of the Constitution of India.

“You should be proud of your local language when you speak in Khasi or Garo or in your language. The world should know how proud you are when you speak of our languages,” he said.

Baneerjee also assured that Meghalaya TMC should uphold and shall fulfill every aspirations of every single citizen of the State.

Earlier, TMC state president, Charles Pyngrope said that the party was committed towards the welfare of the people and overall development of the State.

Pyngrope also reminded that the party was responsible to raise the demand for inclusion of the Khasi language in the Eight Schedule of the Constitution at Delhi.

Gilbert said that people should not be misled by the forces that are using money power to get the votes.

He slammed Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong for his remarks that the people wre being misled and continue to be misled every five years.

According to him, such a statement needed be strongly condemned since it was an insult to the poor electorates.
