Dry days
East Khasi Hills District Magistrate SC Sadhu has declared dry days in the district on February 25, 26 and 27, and March 2 in view of the state Assembly elections and declaration of results respectively. In a statement, Sadhu, who is also the District Election Officer, has also issued a stern warning against selling, giving or distributing “spirituous, fermented or intoxicating liquors or other substances of a like nature” at hotels, eating houses, taverns, shops or any other place— public or private — and within a polling area.

Meeting
The Shillong Central Rongali Bihu Celebration Committee will hold its general body meeting at Assam Club, Laban premises, at 11 am on Sunday.

Celebration
The Mising Society Of Shillong and Mising Students’ Union of Shillong jointly celebrated the ‘Ali-A:ye-Ligang’ — a festival relating to agricultural activities of Mising community. The programme, which was organised in Shillong, was attended by people from the Mising community, Deputy Resident Commissioner, Assam House Shillong, Monjit Sonowal, among others.

Holiday
The Chief Inspector of Boilers and Factories, Meghalaya, has directed all factory owners in the state to declare a weekly holiday on February 27 instead of the first day of the week so as to enable the voters to exercise their franchise.

Examination
Candidates appearing for Engineering Services (P) Examination, 2023, have been allowed to use their vehicles, including public transport, on February 18 and 19, 2023 subject to production of Admit Card or E-Admit Card. This was informed by the Commissioner & Secretary, Transport department.
