Two choir group members killed in road accident

NONGSTOIN, Feb 19: Misfortune befell on a church choir group of Umdang Presbyterian church in West Khasi Hills after a vehicle (ML 07 B 9110) in which they were travelling met with an accident and two persons lost their lives on.
The vehicle was en route to Mawkhumkha village for a church service on Sunday morning when the tragedy occurred.
After inquiry, police said that the vehicle driven by Shempatkupar Mawsor of Umdang Village was ferrying as many as 34 choir members to Mawkhumkha village, but on reaching the village, the vehicle capsized.
The two deceased have been identified as Dearly Daffudil Rashir (18) and Sonamika Ryntong, (17), both residents of Umdang Village.
The other occupants of the vehcile sustained injuries and were referred to Civil Hospitals in Nongstoin and Shillong for treatment by the authorities at Riangdo CHC.
The relatives of the deceased persons have approached the authorities seeking exemption from post-mortem of the cadavers, and were awaiting an approval at the time of the filing of this report.
