SHILLONG, Feb 28: The Indian Army has announced transformational changes in the recruitment procedure of Agniveers/junior commissioned officers (JCOs) and operational requirement staff (ORS) for 2023-2024.
Deputy Director General (Recruiting) for North Eastern states, Brigadier Harpreet Singh, told reporters here on Tuesday that all Stage I candidates will have to register and apply online at indianarmy.nic.in for the common entrance exam (CCE).
He said the shortlisted candidates for Stage II will be called for a recruitment rally at locations decided by the respective AROs where they will undergo physical fitness tests and physical measurement tests.
“Finally in Stage III, the selected candidates will undergo a medical test at the rally location,” Brigadier Singh said.
He said the online registration for the CEE would be open from February 16 to March 23. The candidates can either register using the Aadhaar number or the class X certificate.
“As part of continued automation, the Join Indian Army website has now been linked with Digilocker for greater transparency,” he said.
The Brigadier said the online CEE is being conducted at 176 locations across India. Each candidate would be allotted an exam location from among the five choices they make during registration.
The fee for the online CEE is Rs 500 per candidate. “The Army is bearing 50 per cent of the cost,” he said.
Each candidate would thus be required to pay Rs 250 with associated bank charges, if any, after being directed to the payment portal upon completing the registration process. The payment can be made through internet banking, UPI/BHIM or credit or debit cards of all major banks, the Brigadier said.
“The candidates are advised to activate their debit cards for online transactions. A candidate will be considered registered only once his payment is successful and a roll number will be generated at this stage, which shall be used at all stages,” he said.
Brigadier Singh also said the online registration would be valid for the entire year. “Candidate will not be able to apply for any recruitment for this whole year if they fail to do the online registration now,” he added.
He further said that to appear in the online CEE, admit cards would be available on the Join Indian Army website 10-14 days prior to the commencement of the examination. Intimation of the same shall be sent to candidates’ mobile phones through SMS and also via their registered email IDs.
The admit card will have the address of the exam centre.
“The online CEE is a computer-based exam and the process to appear for it is very simple. To guide the candidates, a video on ‘How to Appear in Online Common Entrance Exam’ is available on the Join Indian Army website and also on YouTube,” the Brigadier said.
He said there is no change in the syllabus and pattern of the exam but a helpdesk has nevertheless been provided to clarify doubts of the candidates, he said.
The helpdesk details are available on the Join Indian Army website. A candidate can also call 7996157222 for queries related to the online CEE.
